Flowers, my guitar, and thoughts

First, I want to thank everyone who replied to my last post, for your advice and encouragements, and simply for sharing your own stories. It made me feel better about the whole thing, and it made me think (dangerous thing, that!)

So I took my sketchbook again and drew the flowers on my table, first time I draw flowers, and it shows... but I'm still happy with the drawing because it's colorful and I enjoyed doing it. On the left is a pinecone, in case you don't recognize it.
And this is the new love of my life, my guitar. When I was young I played the piano, it was a love/hate relation, and no one ever thought I should do something with it... (except maybe, stop).
I thought I was lost for music forever, being obviously not gifted at all. but I love music, I love the sound of live instruments, especially guitar, bass and percussions, so I treated myself and bought this and a method for learning.
I'm having fun playing, for my ears only (I'm not a cruel person). There's absolutely no pressure at all. The sounds and the exercices take me in a meditative state like nothing else ever did (great surprise!)

I think playing an instrument or singing just for pleasure is more understood and accepted than sketching or drawing. People seem to get the point better. But maybe I'm wrong, it's not something I'm very familiar with.

Your drawings are wonderful! I love the colors and your interpretation.

Congratulations on your guitar. It sounds like an ongoing friendship and I'm glad you are following your heart.

Your drawings are so rich in color!
Adding to the discussion about doing art: I do lots of stuff and have just realized that others do not understand where I'm coming from. They just know that I'm in my own world and happy there. Yes, I hear, "do you sell your work". Not really. It's not where my motivation lies. Enjoy your talents.

Your work is beautiful. I had no problem recognizing all the elements. Your pine cone is excellent! Enjoy the guitar playing! I play the mandolin and sing!
Aloha, Kate

Your drawings are wonderful, and there's nothing wrong with your flowers! or your pinecone...I can definitely tell it's a pinecone:) You have a great sense of color, and your control over watercolors is excellent. And I think you've inspired me to pick up my guitar again, too. I married a musician, and he's so much better than me that I became discouraged, and rarely play...but, I love it...

Fantastic color-mix there Kazumi! I love the warm tone, and the guitar looks perfect!
=) I sometimes forgot how skillful you are with watercolors(not that I thought you're no good to begin with, it just amazes me from time to time)

Your drawings are beautiful!! And I wish you well with the guitar. I, too, have recently acquired one and hope to begin learning to play! (Though, it is out for repair at the moment!)

My mother so wanted me to play the piano... like you, I was not that talented nor was I dedicated to it... and thus I dropped it as soon as I could. I love music, just not musical myself. Your flowers are lovely, as is your pine cone, they are harder to draw than people who haven't tried it may think. Yours is WAY better than my last attempt, which was a long time ago, and yet I keep collecting them LOL hoping to find the perfect cone to sketch. My husband is so indulgent of such a messy wife with way too many hobbies. Good to see you drawing again.

Beautiful watercolors! I, too, just love your sense of color - so elegant. Have fun with your guitar. I can only play the radio :-)

Love your paintings. Of course that is a pinecone! I bought a guitar but with no music in my background I think I need a teacher and I can't do that right now. Hope you enjoy yours a lot. You can use it as an art model many times besides play it. Love all the colors you've used in these.

You did not have to say it's a pine cone! Excellent drawings! And congratulations of picking up my favorite instrument! I play too (though rarely these days). And now my son plays better than me.

Great paintings. I see playing an instrument and painting and writing all as sides of the same creative coin. And I don't give a hoot what other people understand or think about any of it! They can shop or watch football for pleasure, and I don't get that.

I adore the warm colors; so cozy! And yes, I noticed it was a pine cone right away.

Kudos to you for learning the guitar. I truly understand what you are saying about music (in the eyes of others) being more productive than illustrating. I am personally mentally challenged when it comes to sting instruments and the piano. My hands work in sync, so I play the saxophone, flute, and harmonica but let the kids play on the keyboard I own. I am also purchasing my daughter a guitar for Christmas. Hopefully she will learn better than her mommy =). You've totally inspired me to honk and make noise and maybe even illustrate them =).

Beautiful sketches. I love the guitar! Beautiful colors, too. Music has a way of soothing the soul. Whenever I draw, I have music playing. The two have always gone together for me.
